SNOW!!!

Over the past two days, Albuquerque, and much of New Mexico, has been slammed with a winter storm. I've never seen anything like it. The airport recorded over 16 inches, a new record. Here in the valley, we saw well over a foot, so much snow that one of our main roads out of the neighborhood was impassible with broken tree branches. In our own backyard, a 40-foot branch fell, only missing the house due to a lucky bounce off the lower branches. I spent yesterday morning shaking off the trees with my dad so no more would break. I also, for the first time ever, shoveled our walkways, which were almost knee-deep. Maybe chalk it up to increasing maturity, but these chores, which my younger self would have hated were actually pretty fun.

Anyways, it is absolutely beautiful out. Everything is covered in snow, a true winter wonderland. Unfortunately, it was actually too much snow. We were hoping on skiing in northern New Mexico today and tomorrow, but the roads are still too bad to bother trying to get up there. Fortunately, Sandia got over two feet of new powder, so we'll probably get up there tomorrow. It would really be a shame if I missed out on all this good snow, especially considering the new jacket and ski pants my mom got me for Christmas. Well, here's to hoping!

(Unfortunately, I seem to have left my camera cables at Stanford, and my new camera is still snowed-in at a FedEx facility somewhere in Colorado, so pictures may have to wait until I get back.)
