Shoelaces

A quick post for all the runners out there:

For a while now I've known that there are ways to lace up my running shoes that benefit the characteristics of my feet, but I never tried it until this weekend. Last week I came across a short article on how to lace shoes properly for different types of feet, so I gave it a try. My feet fall into the 'wide' category, so I laced just the very bottom, then straight up the sides, and a couple normal cross-overs at the top (as in the diagram).

The change was pretty amazing. Just by doing that, I loosened up the front of my foot so it could, for what was probably the first time ever, actually do its job of helping to cushion my footfalls. I have another pair of shoes back at Stanford that I've avoided wearing because they were just a bit too snug, but I think this will make them wearable again. Give it a shot, and let me know what you think.
