Paris: Part 1
For a number of reasons, I haven't been posting lately. A lot of it has to do with the dual combination of having been busy lately and procrastination, but there are other factors as well.
So now it's time to remedy that. I'll start with the big one, Paris.
The trip was fantastic! The weather could have been a little better, and both of us came down with a bit of a cold during the last couple days, but everything else was great. I'll go through day by day, I suggest you follow along with the [concept showcase](http://www.hicks-wright.net/photos/v/2006/paris/">pictures.
The first day we took it pretty easy and just went to see Pompidu. As before, there were a number of fun and interesting exhibits, as well as a number of disturbing ones.
The second day we went up to Montmarte, an area I had not been to before. The view of the city was spectacular from the hill. After walking through the cathedral, we walked down the park in front of it and along to Moulin Rouge. Next we saw the Opera House. After dinner, we spent time walking along the Seine.
Day 3 started us at the Eiffel Tower. We went up to the top and got another fabulous view of the city. We walked across the river to the Palais de Chaillot to get a better view of the Tower. After grabbing a very good lunch of salad topped with dark toast and goat cheese (seriously, it was really good!) we followed Avenue Kieber up to the Arc De Triomphe, at which it seemed there was some sort of military ceremony, possibly involving the Spanish (notice the flag on the lamp post) as well. We followed the Champs Elysee down to the trendy shopping area, where stores had lines of people waiting just to get in. We decided to skip those, but got sidetracked by the <a href="http://www.hicks-wright.net/photos/v/2006/paris/day3/IMG_3563.JPG.html) at the Toyota dealer.
On the fourth day we encountered labor strikes and riot police, but like the TV episodes of late, I'm going to leave it as a cliffhanger to be continued...
