On the Road

I'm just about packed. Camera batteries are charging, I'm going over my list one last time, and when I get a spare moment I'll make the last important decision: should I take London, Kerouac, Vonnegut, or all three?

Early tomorrow morning my father, my sister and I are flying to Peru, where we will meet my brother for a two-week trip. During the 15 days we are there, we will visit Lima, Cuzco, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, and a number of small towns between.

I feel a little nervous about this trip. I am currently battling a sinus infection, inflicted by a lingering cold. Combined with spending the better part of the past 5 years at or close to sea level, nearly three miles below the pinnacle of our hike to Machu Picchu, I will be more susceptible to altitude sickness. But I am also excited about this trip. I hope to see the many beautiful places, and practice my skill as a photographer in capturing these sights. And I am looking forward to spending time with my family, enjoying their company in the beautiful world around us.

I will probably have internet access every few days while I am there. I am bringing a journal to record my trip and my thoughts, and I hope to post most of it here, along with pictures, during the adventure. For anyone who may need to contact me, email is best; I will respond in a few days. When I return, I'll make sure that all of my pictures, or at least the good ones, get posted.

Wish me luck!

have a good time.
i am told that the Peruvians make excellent civiche.

if you have a sinus infection i cannot say enough good things about doing salt water rinses with a netti pot (someone recently described it as douching your sinuses)

i vote for Kerouac. of course, you can't go wrong with KV.
