Holidays' Summary
The holidays were busy this year. Iris and I left New York on the 21st for Albuquerque. On the 22nd I had my 5 year high school reunion. I was able to catch up with a bunch of people I hadn't seen in 5 years, and ignore the ones I didn't feel like reconnecting with. The 23rd was spent finishing up Christmas shopping.
On Christmas Eve we set out luminarias like we always do. Every year they go faster, to the point that they've become fun to do instead of the chore that they used to be. We had our open house party, which got good attendance. Christmas started at my Dad's, then we went over to my Mom's for the whole family get-together. The 26th provided us with a day of rest and some post-holiday cleaning before we left for Mexico on the 27th.
Since my dad had his leg broken by a snowboarder in Colorado back in November, the ski trip we'd planned in conjunction with taking Eli back to school was clearly not going to happen. With Christmas less than a month away, we called a travel agency and booked an all inclusive resort vacation to Puerto Vallarta. It's not our usual type of vacation, but it turned out to be the perfect trip. We spent 4 days, mostly laying on the beach in 80-degree weather, only leaving the resort twice, once on a boat to go snorkeling, and once on ATVs, just for the fun of it.
We got back on New Years Eve and had a quiet night at home to bring in the New Year. I took Iris to the airport early the next morning, before coming back and packing up the car to drive to Denver to take Eli back to school. We came back on the 2nd, celebrated my dad's birthday on the 3rd, celebrated family birthdays on the 4th, and on the 5th I was back on the plane to New York.
This break was just what I needed. Relaxing, seeing family, eating green chile, and more relaxing. And that's the story of why I haven't posted in so long...
